Sunday, February 7th, 2010

If you are a serious gamer, you probably know all about Alienware.

Alienware laptops are reputedly the most powerful laptops in the world and about the most expensive. The anodized aluminum case is fitted with the fastest hardware you can put in a laptop, including two of Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 280M graphics cards and a 2.53-GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad QX9300 CPU. The Alienware M17x is reviewed here

We have just recieved 15 Alienware laptops that have been checked and placed on our website for sale at a great price. Check out our Alienware here

Alienware m17x

Weighing 5.4kg and measuring 406 by 54 by 321mm, the M17x is perhaps best thought of as a portable desktop. The Alienware M17x has a full-size keyboard complete with numeric keypad.

The LEDs on the M17x can be customised and all ports are located on the sides of the chassis. On the left, you get three USB ports, as well as mini-FireWire, DisplayPort, HDMI-out, VGA-out and Gigabit LAN connections. Over on the right, a slot-loading DVD writer is joined by a further two USB ports, audio in/out, a multi-format card reader and an ExpressCard/54 slot.

The most eye-catching feature of the Alienware M17x is AlienFX, which lets you change the colour of the ten LED-backlit sections of the laptop, allowing for an unlimited array of effects or, if preferred, no lights at all.

Lap Dogs and Laptops - not a good combination!

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

Laptops are designed to have good airflow when you place them on a desk and use them. When you sit down on a bed or chair and use a laptop on your lap, the airflow is greatly diminished. On the bottom of your laptop, you will see four feet, one at each corner, these are designed to sit on a level surface and allow good airflow.

If you have a friendly Lap Dog, then not only is your laptop getting restricted airflow from the bottom, it is also smothered on the top. The other issue is that you cannot use the keyboard!

Laptops that overheat will eventually crash or shutdown without warning and a serious overheating problem could cause irreversable damage.
